The strike is bold, with very good detail on both the obverse and reverse devices. The fields are velvety smooth and exhibit their original mint luster and a desirable cartwheel shine. This is an excellent specimen fully deserving of its high MS65 grade.   The 1891 Carson City mintage is considered a key date among collectors due to its rarity in Mint Uncirculated condition. Though 1.6 million Morgans were minted in Carson City in 1891, most have been lost to circulation or were melted down during the massive bullion melts of the 1930's, making gem specimens very hard to find.
