Description
nadirce Store Now we come to the 3rd. and the Last Session of Georgian Coin Collection of mine . My hearty thanks to all who have been visiting nadirce and showing close interest in these very interesting coins from this historically important Kingdom from CAUCASIA .This third Session contains last few RARE coins of the Kingdom , some classical pieces and...some numismatic attractions which I have found very interesting. Needless to mention but I still do. ALL THE EXAMPLES presented here are ORIGINAL and are part of a careful collection which has been built over the years. There are pieces here which you will encounter for only once and are very hard to see similar examples of .WE START with a GIORGI XII ( 1798 - 1800 ) - copper 1 PULI coin of 1213 AH date ( 1798-99 AD).THIS COIN IS AN UNMENTIONED AND INEDITTED PIECE : While his Half Bisti = 2 Puli coin weighs 5.03 gms. this coin weighs 3.7 gms. and has a diameter of 17mms. FISH design on obverse with floral decorations above and below and Durube-Fi TIFLIS / AH 1213 on reverse. Obverse & Reverse well eligible and has a brownish-black nice patina.During late 18th. Century , the Georgian coin denominations were :1 BISTI = 4 PULI 1/2 BISTI = 2 PULI &1 PULI = 1/4 BISTI.During GIORGI XII's Father - EREKLE II Period , full Bisti , Half Bisti and 1 Puli coins were struck and examples of them were known. During his Son - GIORGI XII Period , Bisti & Half Bisti coins were struck and Catalogues also show examples of these.THE EXISTANCES of this smallest copper coin denomination of 1 PULI WAS doubtful and was not shown or mentioned any where . THE 1 PULI COIN WE PRESENT HERE IS NOT MENTIONED OR PRESENT IN ANY OF THESE CATALOGUES BELOW :A) " Money in Georgia " Catalogue of National Bank of Georgia - Second & most Recent Edition ,B) PAHAMOV Catalogue of Georgian Coins - 1970 Tiflis Printing and ......finally ,C) Krause Publications - World Coins - 1701 - 1800 Catalogue - 2007 Edition .Giorgi XII could reign for only 2 years and died in 1800. Theoratically he was the Last Georgian King before the Kingdom united with Russian Empire by the Manifest of 1801 where Georgian Monarchy was fully abolished. Normally his coins are scarce to rare . THIS UNKNOWN ONE VERY RARE ...Now , Catalogues can borrow my picture and include them in Giorgi XII Coinage List since it is an alive example. The Rule : " MALINKI is RARITAT " = "Small size coins of RARE pieces are VERY RARE " works fully in this example ... FOR YOUR APPRECIATIONS..........
