Description
This is a collection that I assembled myself in the middle 1970’s.  I had it mounted locally with two sided glass so you can see the reverses.  The frame is titled “Currency of the Colonies”.  The photos can be seen at: http://s288.photobucket.com/albums/ll185/adear4im/Colonial%20Currency/ The photos are labeled by numbers, which match the following descriptions.  They are in order from top to bottom, left to right, when viewing the front side of the collection.  The notes that don't depict a reverse picture are blank on the back. #1  The colony of New Hampshire 30 Shillings,  November 3rd  1775.  Extremely Fine. #2  Massachusetts State  5 Shillings and 4 Pence, 1779.  Very Fine. #3  The  colony of Connecticut 40 Shillings, June 1st 1773.  Extremely Fine,  endorsed on the reverse. #4  State of Vermont 20 shillings February 1781.  Very Fine, some repairs to the right side.  This note is extremely rare and is from the “14th” colony.  #5  The state of Rhode Island 3 Dollars  July 2nd, 1780.  Crisp Uncirculated. #6  The colony of New York 2 Shillings 8 pence.  March 5th 1776.  Extremely Fine. #7  The  colony of New Jersey.  Six Shillings March 25th 1776.  Almost Uncirculated. #8  Pennsylvania 20 Shillings  October 5th  1773.  Extremely Fine #9  United States 65 Dollars January 14th  1779.  Almost Uncirculated #10 Delaware 20 shillings January 1st  1776.  Almost Uncirculated #11 Maryland 8 Dollars April 10th 1774.  Almost Uncirculated,  endorsed on the reverse. #12  Virginia 750 Dollars March 1st 1781.  Almost Uncirculated. #13  North Carolina 10 shillings December 1768.  Almost Uncirculated. #14  State of Georgia 20 Shillings August 14th 1786.  Extremely Fine. #15  South Carolina 90 Dollars February 8th 1779.  Almost Uncirculated,  endorsed on the reverse.   Some of these notes are not centered in the frame and most probably somebody who wishes to keep it in a collection would re frame it, however they are in a currency holder that is placed in between the matting and are well protected as they are.
