Description
PIETILA Store Choice VF+ New Jersey 18d March 25, 1776 Colonial Note       A rare and very desirable 18 pence 1776 Colonial Note from the highly collected Colony of New Jersey. This example has been signed by John Hart, who was one of the signatories of the "Declaration of Independence", see (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Hart ) for more biographical information. This note is in Choice VF+ condition with one vertical centerfold and a couple of insignificant tiny pin holes. There are no tears, no other holes, no restoration attempts, nor any other problem. This note is from Plate "C" and it's serial number "13613" is boldly inked in dark brown.  Hand signed by Jonathan Johnston ,  John Stevens Jr. (an early inventor of steam powered machinery), and  John Hart.  This thick rag paper is watermarked "NEW JERSEY" on one line when held up to a light source, which was used as an anti-counterfeiting device. An original and genuine example of our early monetary history with the Key Signature of one of the signatories of the Declaration of Independence.  Purchased from Stack's a number of years ago. Successful bidder will receive FREE insured 1st Class USPS shipping/handling to anywhere in the United States.   View My Other Items For Sale, you may find something interesting!
