It has lots of underlying red, but we always hate the distinction of brown, not so brown, kinda brown and whatever.....It's a very nice piece with George Washington on the Obverse and information on the August 1864 Sanitary Fair held at Nantucket, Massachusetts. Here's a superb Civil War opportunity if you collect Civil War and Sanitary Fair material, you know how difficult it is to find ANY Sanitary fair material--Chicago, New York, Philly, Nantucket, Springfield, all of which we have sold in the last year and they went fast. Like the Sutler tokens, Sanitary fair tokens and medals are the most scarce of all the Civil War issues. Those who collect either have grown accustomed not just to the very high prices, but the genuine rarity of the pieces. I know we have spent many days banging our collective fists on the tables when $500 and up won't buy the piece we want at auction.
