Linear design by Brenner as used on bookplates and title pages of books. Letterpress copper eletroplated acid-etched plate, tacked in the corners onto a type-high block of wood. Ink residue on wood, in some cases paper has been applied to back to increase height slighly when used in a press. The others in this group were probably used for illustrations in the American Journal of Numismatics or the 1957 Centennial History edition. Very nice for a desk paperweight. A very nice letterpress cut. For size reference there is part of a 6" ruler in the scan, and each block is just over  1-1/2 inches square, with a type-high height of about 15/16 inch. Condition as found. This item was disposed of officially by the ANS in a house-cleaning during the mid-1980s. Email questions.
